"For a New America"
Gov. Jack's Education Policy
Jack’s proposal to remove tax-exempt status on universities who don’t lower their costs below $40,000 is extremely problematic. Universities have high costs to hire elite faculty members and have good facilities. The solution to the problem of college accessibility is not to limit the quality of college education, but to increase the availability of the education. Private student loans can solve the problem by customizing loans that work for each student, and these companies can also refinance loans to help students. Jack plan’s to sacrifice the quality of college education for a problem that can be solved, without any guarantees that Colleges and Universities will act as he predicts.

Jack discusses the availability of student loans, but he doesn’t actually state how those loans become more available, whereas I give examples of how my proposal of privatization will lead to more student loans.

Jack’s proposal about funding small universities is woefully inaccurate. He believes that by funding small colleges, there will be more competition and the overall price of college will go down. However, there are thousands of colleges in the US, and prices have gone up, not down. The price of an elite, highly regarded institution is not dependent on the price of colleges that are not comparable in terms of reputation and quality. If what Jack was saying is true, then we should have already seen the price decrease that he talks about.
In the two issues of teacher wages and discrimination, my campaign also solves back better that Jack does. By providing tax breaks to private companies who fund public education, we increase the amount of funding into public schools while also personalizing the care that these schools need. If a school views these issues as most important, then they can use the private funding to solve these issues, instead of relying on the government to solve an issue that they have not been able to.
